Natural Moisturizing Factor

Properties and Cosmetic Use

Simile of NHF, it contains substances that are highly moisturizing to the stratum corneum. The Natural Moisturizing Factor is a set of water-soluble and/or water-dispersible molecules present in the intercellular spaces of the stratum corneum and, particularly, on the free surface of the skin, resulting from the various physiological processes that take place at the cutaneous level. Due to their hygroscopic characteristics, most of their components are capable of absorbing and retaining water in the stratum corneum, which is why they are used as moisturizing agents to replace the function of FNH in skins in which it is deficient, for example, in normal skins that are subjected to frequent washing with surfactants or in aged skins.
